I am an interdisciplinary scholar and practising psychoanalyst working in London. I have lectured internationally and published extensively about subjectivity, aesthetics and the political.  My fields of specialism are Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalytic theory, continental philosophy and critical theory. Originally from Chile, I studied and lived in New York for a decade. I then moved to Berlin, after being appointed with a DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Professorship.  In 2008 I joined the Department of Psychosocial Studies, Birkbeck College in London. I am the author of Deseos Nómades: Estética y Política del Afecto (Metales Pesados, 2022), Radical Sociality: Studies on Disobedience, Violence and Belonging (Palgrave, 2013) and Fantasy and Political Violence (Springer, 2009). 

 My relationship with psychoanalysis began in my early twenties while studying philosophy and having my first experience on the couch, as an analysand.  This relationship grew stronger and deeper during my doctoral studies in NYC, where I became an avid reader of Freud and Lacan, authors that still inform my clinical work and research today. I am on the UKCP registered training of the Guild of Psychotherapists.
