Different from other mental health practices that seek to provide a quick solution to a problem, a psychoanalytic approach offers an open-ended process. The work is carried out through free association to reveal aspects of the often-unconscious elements of our emotional lives. These elements, although less known or understood, are significant in the way they make us feel -and they are often the underlying reason for our difficulties. People seek psychoanalytic therapy for multiple reasons: sometimes it is the feeling of being stagnated in life, depressed, or anxious; geographical displacement, loss, or the end of a relationship; questions about sexual/gender identity, and often just the desire to find out more about oneself.
Working from a non-dogmatic Freudian and Lacanian perspective, I will listen, without judgement, pressure or expectations, to the way you articulate your thoughts and experiences. I will pay particular attention to existing patterns and repetitions, as well as slips, silences, dreams or what might appear at first sight as irrelevant. Together we will explore their meaning and significance, as well as the new horizons of self-understanding that emerge through the analytic work.
My clinical practice is LGBTQ+ inclusive and informed by feminist, queer and decolonial, anti-racist thinking.
I offer sessions in person and online, in English or in Spanish.
